The Update You Need: iOS 16

Mark your calendars, the new Apple iOS 16 is coming this fall for Phone 8 models and newer! Let’s dive into the best new features coming your way.

EDIT AND UNSEND MESSAGES

The update everyone’s been waiting for! With iOS 16, you can edit and ‘unsend’ your recent messages. Edit typos even after sending, and if you accidentally sent a message, use “Undo Send” to prevent it from being read. You can also mark your messages and threads as unread, making the iMessage experience even smoother.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR LOCK SCREEN

Your lock screen gets an upgrade with this new update. You can press and hold to edit your lock screen by changing color filters on your photo or the font on your lock screen, adding lock screen widgets, and more!

Bonus: You can set up different custom lock screens, each with its own unique set of widgets, and swipe to switch.

NOTIFICATIONS REIMAGINED

Notifications will now be at the bottom of your screen. As new alerts come in, they will rotate like a vertical carousel (rather than covering your entire lock screen in a list of notifications).

There’s even a feature called Live Activities that allows you to track sporting events, workouts, even your Uber ride, from your lock screen without receiving an ongoing string of notifications.

YOUR WALLET

Apple adds ID cards from more states, and ups their security and privacy for your wallet. One example is that the Wallet app will protect your identity and age by verifying you’re over 21 without showing your exact birth date.

APPLE PAY LATER

Allows you to split the cost of your Apple Pay purchase into four equal payments, spread out over six weeks. Even better: there’s no interest and no fees! You can even track your dates and payments through your wallet app.

VISUAL LOOK UP

iOS 15 introduced us to Visual Look Up, which helps you identify objects in your photos like plants, landmarks, and more. With iOS 16, you can now tap and hold to remove a photo’s background. You can then add it to apps like Messages, sending photos of you, your dog, your friends, and so much more with ease and precision.

SHAREPLAY

SharePlay is another feature from iOS 15 that gets an upgrade with iOS 16. SharePlay allows you to share experiences with someone over FaceTime, such as syncing your TV watching experiences. Now, SharePlay works in Messages! Start SharePlay with friends while messaging.

MAPS

Plan your trips to the tee! Add up to 15 different stops to your route, and share your trip from Mac to iPhone with ease.

These new features (and so many more!) have been designed with you in mind. Apple truly listened to user and developer feedback when perfecting this latest iPhone update. We can’t wait to hear what you think when it rolls out!
