From Monterey to Ventura: The New macOS Ventura
Get excited, your Mac is about to be transformed! Apple’s macOS Ventura is coming this fall, so let’s walk through everything you need to know about this new update.
NEW AND NOTABLE
STAGE MANAGER
This new feature enables you to rearrange and group open windows on your Mac! You can place one window in the center of your screen, and have your other windows visible in a smaller thumbnail on the side. Group different windows together for an even smoother user experience.
CAMERA
Finally, you can transition your FaceTime calls from iPhone to iPad to Mac with Handoff! This upgrade includes a feature called Continuity Camera that allows you to use your iPhone as your webcam.Your Mac can recognize your iPhone and use its camera as the webcam when you accept or initiate a video call. Bonus for teachers or anyone who loves visual demonstrations, the Desk View feature uses your iPhone’s wide angle lens camera to show what’s on your desk during a video call, an amazing overhead view feature.
MESSAGES
If you haven’t heard of the new iOS16 update for iPhones, you’re in for a treat! Apple brings the same messaging updates to macOS Ventura as it does for the new iPhone update, allowing you to edit or unsend a message you just sent.
PASSKEYS
Security is just another one of the things Apple has upgraded with this software update. Passkeys now includes “a new sign-in method that is end-to-end encrypted and safe from phishing and data leaks,” making Apple passkeys more secure than all common two-factor authentication. (They even work on non-Apple devices too!)
MAIL
Sending emails has never been easier. Improved search provides more accurate and comprehensive results, even providing suggestions before you begin typing.You can now also undo send and schedule send for emails. Unsend emails you accidentally just sent, schedule emails to be sent later, and even get follow up reminders to return to a thread.
SAFARI
Get ready, because macOS Ventura is about to make Safari “the world’s fastest browser,” and the most power-efficient browser on a Mac! You can even share tabs and bookmarks, send messages, and start FaceTime through the Safari browser.
